New York Yankee All-Star Derek Jeter Signs on With XM Satellite RadioXM Satellite Radio |
XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio service with more than 5 million subscribers and the official satellite radio network of Major League Baseball (MLB), today announced New York Yankees' All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter has joined forces with XM to promote XM's critically-acclaimed MLB programming. The deal also includes a partnership with the Turn 2 Foundation, the non-profit organization founded by Jeter to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles and academic achievement for young people. In addition, Jeter will make regular guest appearances throughout the year on MLB Home Plate (XM Channel 175), XM's 24-hour MLB news and talk channel.
"To help extend the lead of a winning team like XM is a terrific opportunity, especially since I am a huge XM Satellite Radio fan. I am excited to share my enthusiasm for XM's unmatched Major League Baseball programming and unprecedented choice in news, talk, entertainment and, of course, commercial-free music," said Derek Jeter.
Jeter will be featured throughout XM's broad MLB marketing activities, including television, print and online media, as well as retail promotions. Jeter also appears in XM's new "Listen Large" holiday marketing campaign, which debuted earlier this month, and features television, print, radio, online and outdoor advertising to promote XM's wide variety of programming and best-in-class satellite radios. Jeter also will make regular guest appearances on various MLB Home Plate programs, including "MLB This Morning" and "The Show."
"Derek Jeter is a phenomenal athlete whose contributions both on and off the field have made him an outstanding ambassador for Major League Baseball and an ideal choice to help promote XM's unparalleled, year-round MLB coverage to fans across the country," said Hugh Panero, president and CEO, XM Satellite Radio.
In 2004, XM and MLB entered into an 11-year broadcast and marketing partnership, making XM the exclusive satellite radio network of Major League Baseball.
